How long is the drive from Hurghada to Cairo?+
The road journey is generally around 4.5 to 6 hours each way along the desert highway, depending on traffic, checkpoints and rest stops. That is why we recommend the short domestic flight of roughly one hour each way, which dramatically shortens travel time and leaves you fresher to enjoy the Pyramids, the Sphinx and the museum.
Should I drive or fly from Hurghada to Cairo?+
Flying is the recommended choice for most travellers. A domestic flight of about an hour replaces a long pre-dawn drive, gives you more time among the monuments and means a much gentler day. The private drive costs less and lets you see the desert landscape, but it makes for a very long day in the vehicle.
