Itinerary
Upon touchdown at Cairo International Airport, a representative from Travel Joy Egypt will greet visitors and provide assistance with airport formalities such as visa requirements and luggage handling. Transportation will then be provided to the hotel in Cairo where guests can check-in, relax, and spend the night as their tour officially begins in the lively capital city of Egypt.
After breakfast at their hotel in Cairo, guests will be met by an English-speaking Egyptologist tour guide from Travel Joy Egypt to embark on their first full day of sightseeing. Their first stop will be the iconic Giza Pyramids complex featuring the pyramids of Khufu, Khafren and Menkaure, all standing guard under the watchful eyes of the Great Sphinx. After taking in the enormity of these ancient wonders, the tour will continue to a local restaurant for lunch. Next on the itinerary is Sakkara to explore the Step Pyramid of King Djoser, said to have surprised and delighted the pharaoh with its innovative design commissioned from Imhotep, one of history's first recorded architects. Concluding the day's activities, the tour group will travel to Memphis to visit The Open Air Museum and admire monuments from the reign of renowned pharaoh Ramses II. Upon completing the guided tour, travelers will be transported back to their Cairo hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. Included meals for the day are breakfast and lunch.
Tour members will start their day with breakfast at the hotel. An Egyptologist guide from Travel Joy Egypt will then lead travelers to the famous Egyptian Museum. Considered one of the most significant museums globally, it houses a treasure trove of pharaonic artifacts including treasures from King Tutankhamun's tomb. Visitors also get the rare chance to visit the phenomenal Mummies' Room to see the actual preserved bodies of pharaohs up close. Next, the tour proceeds to historic Old Cairo. The Citadel of Saladin will impress with its role protecting Egypt for centuries. Afterwards, guests can enjoy lunch at a local Egyptian restaurant. Further exploration of Old Cairo includes visits to the stellar mosques of the Islamic district - Ahmed Ibn Tulun, Sultan Hassan and El Refa'i mosques. Stylistic and architectural details from different eras will enlighten visitors. The afternoon itinerary highlights Coptic Christian sites with a guided walk. The ancient Hanging Church and the Church of Saint Sergius provide biblical glimpses. Nearby are religious structures like the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Finally, no trip to Cairo is complete without experiencing the lively sensory delights of Khan El Khalili bazaar. After the enriching day of cultural immersion, guests will be transferred back to their hotel for an overnight stay. Included meals for this touring day are breakfast and lunch.
After enjoying breakfast at their Cairo hotel, guests will be transported to Cairo International Airport by a Travel Joy Egypt representative for their short flight to Amman, Jordan. Upon landing at Queen Alia International Airport, another company representative will greet travelers. Visa and baggage assistance will be provided before a transfer is arranged to take visitors to their hotel in Amman's downtown area. Checking in will allow tourists an overnight stay to begin exploring Jordan's modern capital city and unwind from the journey. Meals provided on this transitional day include breakfast at the hotel in Cairo prior to departure.
Following breakfast, the guided tour travels from Amman to Mount Nebo. Referenced in the Bible, this notable site was the place where Moses glimpsed the Promised Land before his passing. Upon arrival, visitors tour the ancient monastery grounds and church, taking in panoramic views of the Jordan River Valley, Dead Sea, Jericho and Jerusalem in the distance. Next, the tour advances to the town of Madaba renowned for its mosaic map of Palestine located within St. George's Church dating back to the 6th century. After experiencing this historic marvel, travelers carry on to the lowest elevation on Earth - the Dead Sea. With its high mineral composition, the sea has developed a reputation as a luxury spa destination providing therapeutic and beauty treatments using mud and salts. Queen Cleopatra and Queen of Sheba themselves were said to enjoy its rejuvenating properties. Given the hypersaline waters, nothing can survive in its midst, thus earning it the name of "Dead Sea". Guests are encouraged to immerse and float leisurely before returning to Amman for lunch. Meals included on this touring day are breakfast and lunch.
After breakfast, the Tour driver from Travel Joy Egypt will pick guests up in an air-conditioned vehicle for the approximately 2.5 hour drive to Petra. Called "the Rose Red City", it is southern Jordan’s most prized attraction dating back to the 6th century BC under the Nabataean Arabs. Upon reaching the visitor center, a 700 meter walk awaits through an awe-inspiring 1200 meter long gorge known as the Siq. Towers of multicolored sandstone rise over 80 meters high on either side. At journey’s end, guests emerge into the basin of Petra - instantly struck by the timeworn beauty and craftsmanship why UNESCO declared it one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. Facades are intricately carved directly into mountainsides. Spending time exploring the wonders at one’s own pace, the group later makes their way back through the Siq gorge. They are shuttled back to Amman for the day. Included meals on this excursion consist of breakfast and lunch.
After a final hotel breakfast in Amman on Day 7, guests check out of their rooms. A representative from Travel Joy Egypt picks them up and transfers everyone to Queen Alia International Airport to check in for outbound flights home. The traveling week has introduced visitors to an array of memorable sights across Egypt and Jordan through seamlessly arranged tours and local guides. Travelers depart enriched with a lasting appreciation of these storied cultural destinations in the Middle East. The sole meal provided on this day of farewell is breakfast at the hotel before check-out. Travel Joy Egypt hopes all guests have enjoyed this educational experience and will consider more tours with the company in the future to further explore history abroad. Safe travels!
