Day 1: Exploring East Luxor - Time Aboard in Luxor
Upon arrival at Luxor airport, guests will board their Nile cruise ship, with embarkation beginning before 12pm to start their 5-day Luxor to Aswan cruise.In the afternoon, travelers will discover the East bank of Luxor, including a guided tour of the expansive Karnak Temple Complex, among the largest structures ever built. Construction first began during the Middle Kingdom, with some parts tracing back to the 3rd dynasty. The principal structures are dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, regarded as his earthly abode.Next is a visit to Luxor Temple, built by a 12th dynasty pharaoh and later completed by Ramesses II. Located at the center of ancient Thebes, it shares the dedication to Amun-Ra with Karnak.Following the tours, guests will return to their cruise ship for rest. An evening folkloric show will be presented by staff, followed by dinner onboard as the ship remains docked in Luxor for the night.
Day 2: West Luxor's Treasures - Cruise to Edfu
A breakfast buffet will be served onboard before today's touring of Luxor's West Bank begins, exploring the Valley of the Kings and its royal tombs.Next is the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir El Bahari, one of Egypt's finest examples of architecture carved directly into the mountainside.The tour concludes at the Colossi of Memnon, belonging to Amenhotep III. Lunch is onboard as the ship sets sail for Edfu. The afternoon is spent at leisure on the ship. Dinner and overnight cruise to Edfu.
Day 3: Edfu & Kom Ombo Temples - Cruise to Aswan
Breakfast is served before disembarking for guided tours of the well-preserved Temple of Horus in Edfu, and the dual sanctuary of Sobek and Haroeris at Kom Ombo.Lunch is served onboard during the cruise between the two destinations. After exploring Kom Ombo, guests return to the ship to relax and watch the Nile landscape from the sun deck as dinner is served en route to Aswan for the night.
Day 4: Sights of Aswan -More Time in Aswan
This morning after breakfast onboard, guests will visit several landmarks in Aswan including the High Dam.Next is a visit to Agilika Island to explore the picturesque Temple of Philae, dedicated to Isis.The final stop is the Unfinished Obelisk, begun from a single stone but never completed.Lunch is served onboard followed by afternoon tea. The remainder of the day is spent at leisure in Aswan. Dinner and overnight onboard.
Day 5: Optional Abu Simbel Excursion - Flight to Cairo
A breakfast buffet is served before disembarkation after breakfast.An optional full-day tour is available to the iconic temples of Abu Simbel, far south on the border of Sudan. Ramses II's temples were meticulously relocated here in the 1960s after construction of the Aswan High Dam threatened to flood the area.The smaller temple was built for his wife Nefertari and honors the goddess Hathor. For those not selecting the Abu Simbel option, a transfer will be provided to Aswan airport for the return flight to Cairo after breakfast.Meals included on this last cruise day are breakfast only. Guests end their Nile cruise experience having explored Egypt's treasures from Luxor to Aswan.
