Cairo Airport / Any Hotel in Cairo
After arriving at Luxor airport or train station, a representative from Travel Joy Egypt will greet you and assist you. Then, an Egyptologist tour guide will accompany you to the bustling merchant town of Esna. Known for the ancient Temple of Khnum located 9 meters underneath the ground, the town is filled with shops selling textiles and local handicrafts. Your first day will start with a short walk to the temple followed by exploring the streets brimming with goods. Dinner and an overnight stay will take place aboard the Nile cruise boat docked in Esna.Meals included: Lunch, Dinner
During the night as you sleep onboard, the cruise boat gently sails towards El Kab on the Nile's eastern bank. Once a capital of Upper Egypt, the area is now home to the Temple of Nekhbet and decorated tombs carved within nearby mountains. Upon docking, a guided walk tours a small fishermen village en route to visiting the archaeological necropolis site. Later that afternoon, the boat docks at Edfu where the exceptionally well-preserved Temple of Horus awaits. A horse-drawn carriage then transports guests through the bustling streets to explore this iconic Greco-Roman structure. Back on the cruise, the evening is spent sailing towards a picturesque island stop.Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
For this day, activities focus on the river. After a morning breakfast guests have the option to explore the surround areas. The boat will then set sail down the river. In the afternoon, it docks at a picturesque island where guest can disembark for a stroll or swim. As evening falls, there may be a chance to hike into the desert valley surrounded by massive boulders bearing ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs and stone age etchings. These historical carvings delineate what was once the shortest route through the desert to Libya, taking 28 days in antiquity. Later in the night, the boat anchors at the spectacularly illuminated Temple of Gebel Silsileh.Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
At Gebel Silsileh, the Nile passes through its most narrow point between two mountain ranges. Guests onboard the Malouka Dahabiya will delight in having this fascinating area all to themselves since larger cruise boats are restricted here. After exploring the small Temple of Horemheb and wandering the sandstone quarries where laborers once extracted materials for legendary temples, guests can relax over tea and shisha at a scenic cafe. Later, the cruise docks at an idyllic riverside location to enjoy lunch and swimming before setting sail once more.Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After spending the night onboard gazing at the stars above the Nile, guests will visit Kom Ombo in the morning. Located scenically on a river bend, the temple constructed during the Ptolemaic era pays tribute to Sobek the crocodile deity. Built upon an older sanctuary, guests can tour its impressive structures before proceeding to the new Crocodile Museum housing preserved specimens that underscore the reptile's cultural significance in this locality during antiquity. Both destinations provide educational insights complementing the previous night spent under the Egyptian sky.Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast aboard the luxurious Malouka Dahabiya cruise vessel, guests will be transported from Aswan to the local airport or train station to complete their journey. Representatives from Travel Joy Egypt will provide assistance until departure.Meals included: Breakfast
