Abu Simbel / Aswan Every Friday (4 Days)
Day 1: Embarkation - Visit Abu Simbel Upon your arrival in Abu Simbel, a representative from Travel Joy Egypt will collect you from your hotel or the Abu Simbel airport and transfer you to the Movenpick Prince Abbas Lake Cruise for check-in at 1:00 PM. Lunch will be served onboard the cruise. Next, you will visit the Abu Simbel Temples. Located on the west bank of the Nile between the first and second cataracts, Abu Simbel is one of Egypt's most iconic ancient sites. It features two temples carved into the mountainside during the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II from 1303-1213 BC. In the 1960s, the temples were dismantled and relocated to higher ground due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam, which flooded their original location. After your awe-inspiring tour of the temples, you will relax with afternoon tea and refreshments onboard the cruise. Dinner will also be served onboard, where you will spend the night. Optional in the evening is a fascinating Sound and Light Show held at the Abu Simbel Temples. Through enchanting music and projections that illustrate how the temples originally appeared, the show transports visitors back in time to the era of the pharaohs. Narrated in multiple languages through individual audio receivers, witnessing this show is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will forever remain in your memory. Day 2: Sail to Kasr Ibrim - Visit - Amada - Sail to Wadi El Sebousa & Overnight
Travel Joy Egypt guests will enjoy breakfast onboard the Movenpick Prince Abbas Lake Cruise. An early morning sail will take them to Kasr Ibrim for scenic views from the sundeck. Once a formidable city situated high above the Nile River, Kasr Ibrim now appears as an island due to the construction of the Aswan High Dam. Lunch will be served onboard the cruise. Later, guests will join their guide for a visit to the Amada Temple. Originally built by Pharaoh Thutmose III of the 18th dynasty, the temple underwent additions and decorations during the reigns of his son Amenhotep II and successor Thutmose IV. Next, they will tour the Temple of Derr, a treasured example from the celebrated reign of Ramesses II and his preferred rock-cut architectural style. Finally, guests can explore the rare surviving rock-cut tomb of the Viceroy of Kush at Tomb of Pennut. Like the nearby temples, it was relocated due to the Aswan Dam's flooding of its original location. Following their day of tours, guests will return to the cruise where they can later attend a cocktail party and experience a traditional Nubian show. Day 3: Visit Wadi El Sebousa Temple - Sail to Aswan
Travel Joy Egypt guests will start their day with breakfast onboard the Lake Nasser cruise. An early morning excursion will take them to Wadi El Seboua for an unforgettable experience, as this area is home to numerous relocated ancient sites. Wadi El Seboua contains two "New Kingdom" temples as well as the Temple of Dakka and Temple of Maharraqua. Most visitors dedicate a full day to explore these structures. Many begin at the famous "Valley of the Lions" avenue lined with sphinxes that leads to the older temple. Built by Amenhotep III, this rock-cut temple with intact brick pylon and courtyard/main hall is dedicated to the Nubian god Horus. Guests will enjoy lunch aboard the cruise before it sails to Aswan. Dinner and overnight stays on Lake Nasser are included. Meals Included: Breakfast Lunch Dinner
Day 4: Visit Kalabsha Temple - Disembarkation from The Cruise
After a nourishing breakfast aboard the cruise, the Travel Joy Egypt guests will embark on an exploration of the Temple of Kalabsha with their resident Egyptologist. Situated near the High Dam, Kalabsha Temple is a customary first stop for Lake Nasser cruises. Originally 30 miles south of its current location, the temple was moved here after construction of the dam flooded its former site. Commenced during the Ptolomaic Dynasty's reign and finished under Roman Emperor Augustus, Kalabsha Temple intriguingly merges Egyptian, Roman, and Nubian design with reliefs of both pharaohs and Romans worshipping the Nubian god Mandulis. Following the visit, guests will disembark from the cruise where a Travel Joy Egypt representative will reliably transfer them to their lodging in Aswan. Meals Included: Breakfast
Aswan / Abu Simbel Every Monday (5 Days)
Day 1: Arrival at Aswan - Aswan Visits & Embark on the Cruise Upon arrival in Aswan, the Luxor And Aswan Travel representative will meet and transfer the guests to the Lake Nasser Nile Cruise for embarkation and check-in. Lunch will be served onboard. In the afternoon, guests will join their Egyptologist guide to explore Aswan city highlights including the magnificent High Dam constructed under President Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1960 to control Nile flooding. They will cruise down the Nile by motorboat to Agilika Island to visit the Temple of Philae that was built in the Greco-Roman era and dedicated to goddess Isis, mother of Horus. One of Aswan's marvels also included is a tour of The Unfinished Obelisk, a massive red granite monument left unfinished for god Amun Ra. After an educational day of sightseeing, guests will return to the Nile Cruise onboard dinner and overnight accommodation. Meals Included: Lunch Dinner
Day 2: Kalabsha Temple - Sail to Wadi El Sebousa
Travel Joy Egypt guests will start their morning with a nourishing breakfast aboard the cruise. Your Egyptologist guide will then lead a tour of the Temple of Kalabsha, often the first landmark visited on Lake Nasser trips due to its proximity to the High Dam. Built under Ptolemaic and Roman rule, its intriguing fusion of Egyptian, Nubian and Roman motifs pays tribute to gods like Mandulis. Next, guests will explore Beit el-Wali Temple, rescued from Lake Nasser's rising waters by Polish archaeologists. Constructed in a symmetrical cruciform shape around a deep sanctuary hall and containing stone carvings, this speos or rock-cut temple offers insight into Nubian traditions. Upon return to the cruise, guests can refresh over lunch as the vessel sails towards Wadi El Sebou, passing through the Tropic of Cancer. Day 3: Visit of Wadi El Sebousa & Dakka
Travel Joy Egypt guests will start their day with a hearty breakfast aboard the cruise ship. Their guide will then escort them to Wadi El Sebou to explore its awe-inspiring Lions' Avenue leading to the temple of Ramesses II. Despite relocation during the 1960s, its magnificence remained forgotten until recent preservation efforts. After the tour, guests will board the vessel for a delicious lunch. As the cruise sets sail for Amada, guests can relax and admire the scenic surroundings of Lake Nasser. Amada Temple, dating back to the 18th Dynasty, is one of the region's oldest monuments and predates later pharaohs like Ramesses II and Abu Simbel. Indicating their mark even centuries later, additions from Ramesses and his son Merenptah can still be seen inside. Day 4: Visit of Kasr Ibrim & Abu Simbel
Travel Joy Egypt guests will awake to an early morning cruise with scenic views of Kasr Ibrim from the sun deck. Once a formidable riverside city, Kasr Ibrim now appears as an island due to construction of the Aswan High Dam. Next, the cruise will sail on to Abu Simbel for a tour of the spectacular temples of Pharaoh Ramesses II, expertly carved into the mountainside during the 13th century BC. Following the 1960s decision to build the Aswan High Dam, the temples were meticulously dismantled and reconstructed on a plateau above the structure's reservoir. Included meals aboard the cruise will be breakfast, lunch and dinner. An optional excursion offers the immersive Sound and Light show in the evening, projecting imagery of the temples in their original glory accompanied by an engaging narration in many languages through personalized audio receivers. Day 5: Disembarkation from Cruise
