Day 1: Aswan City Tour - Aswan ON Travel Joy Egypt welcomes you to Aswan where a representative will pick you up and take you via private transport to the Iberotel Crown Emperor Nile cruise ship for a 12pm check-in. After onboard lunch, you will tour sites including the High Dam built in 1960 to control Nile flooding. Then a boat ride to Philae Temple from the Graeco-Roman era dedicated to Isis. Lastly see the Unfinished Obelisk from red granite for Amun Ra before returning to the ship. Dinner onboard. Note that if arrival in Aswan is early, the tour starts right away to avoid wait time before check-in. Lunch and dinner included.
After breakfast onboard, your Egyptologist guide will take you to the Temple of Kom Ombo where the crocodile god Sobek and falcon god Haroeris were worshipped. Returning to the ship, enjoy lunch on the sun deck admiring Nile views. Next, experience Temple of Horus in Edfu, renowned for its preservation, via chariot ride. Back on board, relax in the afternoon before a dinner and Egyptian folkloric show entertainment put on by staff. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
After breakfast on the cruise, begin touring holy Thebes' west bank including the Valley of the Kings royal cemetery. Next see Hatshepsut's Temple at Deir El Bahari, renowned architecture carved within a mountain. Complete the day at the Colossi of Memnon belonging to King Amenhotep III before lunch onboard. The afternoon is free until dinner and overnight on the cruise. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included in the itinerary.
After breakfast at 8am and check out, explore the east side of Luxor including the vast Karnak Temple complex spread over 100 acres. Considered the world's largest religious site, it was built over 2000 years. Complete the tour at Luxor Temple established by the 12th Dynasty king and later additions by Ramesses II. A private A/C van will then transfer you from Luxor, concluding the services of Travel Joy Egypt. Breakfast included.
Upon arrival in Luxor, a representative from Travel Joy Egypt will transfer you via private A/C vehicle to the Nile Cruise for check-in before 12pm. In the afternoon, discover the expansive Karnak Temple complex - among the largest structures ever built, with the earliest parts dating to the 3rd Dynasty. Then visit Luxor Temple from the 12th Dynasty dedicated to Amun Ra. Both are located on Luxor's east bank. Afterward, return to the ship to rest. An Egyptian folkloric show and dinner will be provided in the evening, with overnight in Luxor. Should arrival be early, the tour begins straight away to avoid waiting at the lobby until 12pm check-in. Lunch and dinner included.
After breakfast, we begin exploring sacred Thebes on Luxor's west bank. This includes the Valley of the Kings burial site for Pharaohs. Next is Hatshepsut's Temple at Deir El Bahari, remarkable for its architecture within the mountainside. We complete the day at Amenhotep III's Colossi of Memnon statues. Afterwards, return to the cruise for lunch. The afternoon is leisure time before dinner and overnight aboard. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided.
After breakfast aboard, the guide leads a mystery tour visiting the superbly preserved Temple of Horus in Edfu. Back on the cruise, lunch is served as we sail to Kom Ombo. This afternoon explores the Temple dedicated to Sobek & Haroeris, before returning onboard. Lunch on the sun deck watching the Nile landscape that nurtured Egyptian civilization. Dinner is provided during tonight's sailing to Aswan, where we arrive late to overnight. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
After breakfast onboard, join our Egyptologist for Aswan sightseeing. See the High Dam built by Nasser to control flooding. Next take a river cruise to Philae Temple on Agilika Island, dedicated to Isis and Horus during Greco-Roman times. Also tour the unfinished Obelisk at the granite quarries, erected for Amun Ra. Lunch is provided after the tour returns to the ship. Later enjoy afternoon tea onboard before dinner and an overnight stay in Aswan. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
After breakfast, our representative accompanies you to Aswan airport/station for your flight to Cairo. Optional Tour: Abu Simbel excursion by private coach or domestic flight from Aswan airport. Meet our guide and travel by private van to the temples at Abu Simbel south of Aswan. Upon arrival, tour the Great Temple of Ramesses II dedicated to Rahorakhty, and the smaller temple for Ramesses II and Queen Nefertari. After the visit, return to Aswan where you'll be transferred to your hotel for check-in, rest, or to the airport for the domestic flight to Cairo. Breakfast included.
