Experience Egypt’s Iconic Sites in Cairo
The tour begins in the bustling capital city of Cairo, where travelers will spend 3 nights at a 5-star hotel. The first day allows for rest after the journey before the sightseeing starts. The included tours take visitors to some of Egypt’s most famous attractions starting with the Pyramids of Giza. Towering over the desert and forming one of the original Seven Wonders of the World, these monumental structures were built as tombs for the pharaohs of the Old Kingdom of Egypt. Also located within the Giza complex is the iconic Great Sphinx, a human-headed lion statue that has long intrigued historians. After exploring these astounding relics, the group travels to Sakkara to discover the Step Pyramid Complex – the earliest large-scale cut-stone structure known to still exist in the world. After exploring this remarkable site and stopping for lunch, the tour heads to the spectacular Egyptian Museum, home to a glorious collection of Pharaonic antiquities including items from King Tutankhamun’s tomb.
Cruise the Nile Through Aswan and Abu Simbel
On day 3, guests take an internal flight south to the city of Aswan. Upon arrival, they board a motorboat for a cruise to Agilkia Island to see one of Egypt’s most beautiful temples, Philae. Dedicated to the goddess Isis, this structure was relocated in its entirety in the 1960s due to the construction of the Aswan Dam. Afterward, the tour visits this hydroelectric dam and its nearby Unfinished Obelisk, believed to represent ancient stone-carving techniques. The following day involves a scenic road excursion to Abu Simbel, home to two impressive rock-cut temples built by Pharaoh Ramesses II. Towering 60 meters high and adorned with colossal statues of Ramesses, these unique structures were carefully relocated in the 1960s to avoid being flooded. After touring this site and stopping for lunch, guests return to Aswan and their centrally-located hotel along the Nile.
Explore Luxor’s West and East Banks
Guests savor another included breakfast before making the journey by road to the magical city of Luxor. Day 5 starts with a visit to the West Bank of Luxor, where travelers are always astounded by the Valley of the Kings. Wandering through the scenic passages and small tombs housing ornate burials and artifacts never fails to impress. Nearby, the elegant Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari sits beautifully perched into the cliffside. Its three levels of colonnaded terraces leading to a sanctuary cut deep in the rock make it a memorable visit. After exploring these sites and stopping for lunch, the tour heads to the towering Colossi of Memnon statues. In the afternoon, guests cross the Nile to Luxor Temple, with its impressive columns and pylons, before arriving at the largest open-air museum in the world – the Karnak Temple Complex. With its giant towers andpylons marching off into the distance, this setting sun tour offers the perfect end to the day.
