Giza PyramidsDay 1: Cairo's Ancient Icons and Museum Marvels
Your adventure begins with a seamless arrival at Cairo Airport, where our dedicated 'Travel Joy Egypt' team member warmly greets you. Our expertly guided tour sweeps you into the heart of ancient Egypt, starting with the legendary Giza Plateau. Here, you'll stand before the monumental Pyramids, awe-inspiring testaments to human ingenuity from the Fourth Dynasty. Witness the colossal Great Pyramid of Khufu, a paragon of ancient engineering that has defied millennia. Next, come face-to-face with the mystical Great Sphinx, its lion's body and pharaoh's head silently guarding these enduring relics. We'll also explore the Valley Temple, integral to the mummification rituals. Our exploration begins at the magnificent Qaitbay Citadel, an imposing fortress built in the 15th century using stones from the legendary Lighthouse of Alexandria, one of the ancient world's wonders. Next, we descend into the fascinating Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, a unique necropolis showcasing a captivating fusion of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman funerary art. A delicious lunch awaits at a local Alexandria restaurant, followed by a visit to Pompey's Pillar, a towering Roman triumphal column dedicated to Emperor Diocletian.
