Giza PyramidsDay 2: Giza's Grandeur & Museum Gems, Fly to Aswan
After a hearty breakfast, join your expert Egyptologist guide for an immersive exploration of the Giza Plateau. Stand awestruck by the Great Pyramid of Khufu, a monumental testament to ancient engineering, and ponder the mysteries of the Sphinx, guardian of the necropolis. We'll also visit the Valley Temple, integral to the mummification rituals. Next, we'll delve into the grandeur of Egyptian history at either the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) or the iconic Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, depending on the GEM's official full opening. With breakfast boxes in hand, we'll embark on a private journey to these incredible temples, carved directly into the rock face by Ramses II. Witness the colossal statues guarding his grand temple, and the smaller, equally impressive temple dedicated to his beloved Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor. Learn about their astonishing relocation to save them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. After our return, a local Aswan restaurant provides a well-deserved lunch. In the afternoon, we'll board a comfortable first-class train, journeying north along the Nile to Luxor, the site of ancient Thebes. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your 5-star hotel.
