Valley of the KingsDay 1: Journey to Ancient Thebes & West Bank Exploration
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your Makadi Bay hotel in a private, air-conditioned vehicle. As we journey to Luxor, prepare to step back in time. Upon arrival, you'll meet your expert Egyptologist guide, who will bring the past to life. Our first stop on the West Bank is the legendary Valley of the Kings, the final resting place for pharaohs of the New Kingdom. Here, you'll descend into magnificent tombs adorned with vibrant hieroglyphs and intricate artwork, each telling a piece of Egypt's glorious history. Next, we visit the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, an architectural masterpiece carved into the cliffs at Deir el-Bahari, celebrating one of the most remarkable female pharaohs. Before crossing to the East Bank, we'll pause at the towering Colossi of Memnon, two monumental statues of Amenhotep III that have stood sentinel for millennia. A delicious lunch at a local restaurant will refresh us for the afternoon's discoveries.
