Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your Port Ghalib accommodation. Relax in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle as we journey northwest to the 'City of a Hundred Gates,' Luxor. - Valley of the Kings — Our first stop takes us across the Nile to the West Bank, into the hallowed grounds of the Valley of the Kings. This desert necropolis, carved deep into the rock face, served as the elaborate burial site for pharaohs of the New Kingdom. Here, you'll venture into several exquisitely decorated tombs, marveling at the intricate murals and reliefs that preserve the beliefs and final journeys of kings like Tutankhamun and Ramesses II, each telling a profound story of ancient Egyptian afterlife beliefs.
- Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut — Next, we visit the striking Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. This architectural masterpiece, nestled dramatically at the base of limestone cliffs, is unlike any other. Dedicated to Egypt's most successful female pharaoh, its multi-tiered design and grand colonnades reflect her powerful reign and connection to the god Amun.
- Colossi of Memnon — Before lunch, we pause at the colossal twin statues known as the Colossi of Memnon. These massive stone sentinels, over 60 feet tall, depict Pharaoh Amenhotep III surveying his vast mortuary temple, much of which has since vanished. Though weathered by time, their imposing presence still commands awe and offers a glimpse into the scale of ancient Egyptian craftsmanship.
- Karnak Temple Complex — After a delightful local lunch, our journey continues to the East Bank and the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex.
