Giza PyramidsYour adventure begins with a seamless transfer from your Luxor hotel or Nile cruise to the airport for a short flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by your expert Egyptologist guide. Our first stop is the Giza Plateau, home to the colossal Pyramids of Giza. Marvel at the sheer scale of Cheops', Chephren's, and Mycerinus' pyramids, ancient burial monuments built to secure the pharaohs' eternal journey. Next, we come face-to-face with the mystical Great Sphinx, a mythical creature carved from a single limestone outcrop, guarding the pharaohs' necropolis with its lion's body and human head. We'll also explore the Valley Temple, a mortuary temple linked to the Chephren Pyramid, once used for purifying the pharaoh's body before burial. Following a delicious lunch at a restaurant offering magnificent views of the pyramids or the Nile, our journey continues to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Witness the grand facade of the Great Temple, adorned with four colossal statues of the pharaoh himself, and the smaller Temple of Hathor and Nefertari, dedicated to his beloved queen. Learn about their astonishing relocation project in the 1960s to save them from the rising waters of Lake Nasser. After soaking in the grandeur of Abu Simbel, we'll return to Aswan for a relaxing lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Nile. In the afternoon, board a comfortable first-class train for a scenic journey back to Luxor, concluding your memorable two-day expedition.
