Historia Luxury Nile Cruise
Overview
Sail Luxor to Aswan on the Historia Luxury Nile Cruise. Spacious five-star cabins, quiet occupancy, Karnak, Edfu, Kom Ombo & Philae. From $1895 with Travel Joy.
The Historia Luxury Nile Cruise is a refined five-star ship known for spacious suites, low occupancy, and serene sailing between Luxor and Aswan past Egypt's greatest temples.
If you ask me which Nile ship feels the calmest, I keep coming back to the Historia Luxury Nile Cruise. She was built to be one of the quieter five-star liners on the river—you sense the unhurried space the moment you board, and the cabins run notably larger than the Nile average. She sails the celebrated route between Luxor and Aswan, departing every Monday from Luxor and every Friday from Aswan, with a relaxed 4-day / 3-night option and a fuller 5-day / 4-night voyage.
Ashore you cover the pillars of pharaonic Egypt—the colossal Karnak and Luxor Temples, the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings, the falcon temple of Horus at Edfu, the dual sanctuary of Kom Ombo, and the island Temple of Philae at Aswan.
Cabins span a generous 22 square meters with individually controlled air conditioning, an LED screen, a safe, a coffee machine, and a bathtub or walk-in shower; suites range up to opulent 46-square-meter Royal Suites inspired by ancient Egyptian royalty.
Onboard you'll find a restaurant, a lounge bar, a sundeck lounge and bar, a spa and gym, a library, a boutique, an elevator, room service, free Wi-Fi, and an on-call doctor. An accessible Historia Suite is available on request.
The Historia suits discerning travelers, honeymooners, and anyone who values quiet luxury and room to breathe. Book with Travel Joy Egypt for private transfers, clear seasonal pricing, and seasoned Egyptologists who bring every temple to life—see all our Nile cruises to compare ships and dates.

Itinerary

Karnak TempleDay 1 (5-Day) — Luxor: Karnak & Luxor Temples
Embark before lunch and settle into your spacious cabin. The afternoon is devoted to the East Bank: your Egyptologist guides you through the vast Karnak Temple Complex, spanning more than 100 hectares with a Hypostyle Hall of 134 columns built up over 1,500 years. You then visit Luxor Temple, the ancient center of divine rejuvenation, with its colossal statues of Ramses II and the Abu Haggag Mosque built into the structure. Enjoy tea on the sun deck before dinner and overnight in Luxor.

Valley of the KingsDay 2 (5-Day) — Luxor West Bank: Valley of the Kings, then Sail to Esna
Cross to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, where three royal tombs cut into the Theban cliffs reveal vivid afterlife scenes, the terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut honoring Egypt's first female pharaoh, and the imposing Colossi of Memnon. Lunch is served as the Historia sails south past charming villages and through the Esna Lock. An optional sunrise hot-air balloon over ancient Thebes can be arranged. Dinner and overnight sailing toward Edfu.
Day 3 (5-Day) — Edfu & Kom Ombo: Temples of Horus and Sobek
A horse-drawn carriage carries you to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the most completely preserved temple of the ancient world, whose Ptolemaic reliefs depict the falcon god's battle with Seth. Lunch is served as you sail to Kom Ombo, a unique symmetrical temple dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god and Horus the Elder, with carvings of medical instruments and a crocodile mummification museum. Dinner and overnight sailing onward to Aswan.

Philae TempleDay 4 (5-Day) — Aswan: Philae Temple, High Dam & Unfinished Obelisk
Begin at the Aswan High Dam, a modern engineering marvel with panoramic views over Lake Nasser, before taking a boat to the island Temple of Philae, sacred to Isis and rescued stone-by-stone in a celebrated UNESCO project. Visit the colossal Unfinished Obelisk in its granite quarry. Lunch is aboard, with the afternoon free for an optional felucca sail or a colorful Nubian village visit. Dinner and overnight in Aswan.

Abu Simbel TemplesDay 5 (5-Day) — Aswan: Farewell & Optional Abu Simbel
Enjoy a final breakfast aboard before disembarking in Aswan. Travelers with extra time can add an early-morning excursion to Abu Simbel, the monumental rock-cut temples of Ramses II and Queen Nefertari that face the rising sun and were relocated above Lake Nasser in a famous UNESCO rescue. Your Travel Joy Egypt representative assists with your onward transfer to the airport, your hotel, or your next destination.

Philae TempleDay 1 (4-Day) — Aswan: Philae Temple, High Dam & Unfinished Obelisk
Embark before lunch in Aswan and ease into river life. The afternoon tour visits the Aswan High Dam, built in the 1960s to create Lake Nasser, the elegant island Temple of Philae on Agilkia Island dedicated to the goddess Isis, and the Unfinished Obelisk, the largest ever attempted, still lying in its ancient granite quarry. Return aboard for dinner and your first overnight moored in Aswan.
Day 2 (4-Day) — Kom Ombo & Edfu: Temples of Sobek and Horus
Set sail early to Kom Ombo, a rare double temple honoring Sobek the crocodile god and Horus the Elder, complete with a museum of mummified crocodiles. The ship then continues to Edfu, where an afternoon horse-drawn carriage ride brings you to the Temple of Horus, dedicated to the falcon god and the best-preserved temple of antiquity. Dinner and overnight sailing toward Luxor.

Valley of the KingsDay 3 (4-Day) — Luxor West Bank: Valley of the Kings & Hatshepsut
This morning explore the West Bank, the world's greatest open-air museum: the Valley of the Kings with its richly decorated royal tombs and optional access to Tutankhamun's tomb, the multi-terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, and the two 3,000-year-old Colossi of Memnon of Pharaoh Amenhotep III. Return aboard for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation. Dinner and overnight in Luxor.

Karnak TempleDay 4 (4-Day) — Luxor East Bank: Karnak & Luxor Temples | Disembarkation
After breakfast and check-out, tour the East Bank highlights: the Karnak Temple Complex, the largest temple ever built, with its Avenue of Ram-Headed Sphinxes and Great Hypostyle Hall, then Luxor Temple, begun by Amenhotep III, expanded by Ramses II, and once linked to Karnak by the Sphinx Avenue. Your guide assists with your onward transfer, closing a memorable voyage along the Nile.
